The WFU Privacy Program

The University Privacy Program is being established by the institution to further protect sensitive personal data, to promote best practices, and to ensure compliance with federal, state, and international privacy regulations (as may be applicable).

Areas of emphasis:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Interpreting complex data protection laws and developing policies to keep the university legally compliant.
  • Incident Response & Investigation: Partnering on investigations into potential data breaches and determining if external notifications are required.
  • Contract & Vendor Review: Negotiating and reviewing data-sharing and vendor agreements to ensure third parties handle institutional data safely.
  • Education & Training: Partnering with the Chief Information Security Officer on creating and delivering training programs for faculty, staff, and students to promote campus-wide privacy awareness.
